About Me

“To care deeply and personally makes one vulnerable, but it is also what gives life its richness and meaning.”
- Irvin Yalom

Grace Mark, MSW, LCSW

Hi there, I’m Grace (they/she), and I’m a psychotherapist who believes in showing up with an open heart and a curious mind, ready to explore all the possibilities for healing and growth. Originally from Asheville, NC, I’ve lived and worked in several communities, in nonprofits focused on arts education, housing, racial equity, and supporting sex workers. I came back to North Carolina to earn my MSW from UNC. During and after graduate school, I gained valuable experience and perspective working at the Community Empowerment Fund (CEF), UNC Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), and most recently, Congruence Counseling Group. In these roles, I supported individuals and groups navigating experiences ranging from housing instability and unemployment to anxiety, family-of-origin challenges, relationship concerns, and other life transitions.

As a white, queer, Jewish, genderfluid person, I am deeply committed to approaching this work with an anti-oppressive lens and will joyfully explore practices that are culturally resonant, identity-affirming, and personally meaningful to you. Outside of work, I may be found reading speculative fiction, camping in the mountains, dancing to live music, thrifting, binge- watching comedies, crafting with and for loved ones, or doting on my pets. I am currently immersed in researching and writing a poetic collection inspired by the life and ideas of Sabina Spielrein, a brilliant yet long-overlooked presence in the early development of psychoanalysis.
